    THE MAN  BEHIND THE VISOR

"Super" Carl Soltisz began riding motorcycles at the age of 6 years old, first starting on a 1996 Honda XR100 trail riding in northern Michigan. After his first ride Carl was hooked on motorcycles. Throughout the next 12 years of his life Carl would continue to ride a variety of dirt bikes on trails around the Midwest.

However, it wasn't until the summer of 2008, when Carl accepted a job as a co-op with Yamaha Motor Corp, that his passion for road racing was born. After attending a few local races as a spectator, Carl bought a 2003 Yamaha YZF R6 and began racing in 2009. Through the next 3 years he participated in a handful of races with such organizations as WERA, CCS, and CRA. He further honed his racing skills by attending track days with STT and NESBA.

For 2012 Carl is competing in his first full season of racing with the CCS Midwest series and ASRA Pro series. He hopes to pilot is new Yamaha YZF R6 to the Amateur Overall Points Championship in CCS and the Michelin Pro Sportbike championship in ASRA. Carl was able to win his first ASRA Pro race this season at Road America and is currently leading the Amateur Overall Points Championship with CCS.

For next season in 2013, Carl will be advancing to the ranks of expert where he hopes to build on his promising results of this season thus far. Carl also plans to make his AMA Pro Supersport debut, participating in select races to prepare for a complete AMA race season in the near future.

Carl is currently attending Kettering University where he is studying to become a mechanical engineer. He is in his senior year and working on his thesis; the dynamics, testing and tuning of the racing motorcycle. He will be graduating December 2012. He is currently employed by Honda R&D Americas as a design engineer co-op in the motorcycle group. After school Carl hopes to have a career professionally racing motorcycles or working as a test engineer in powersports.
